Share This Post:

What is Creatine and will it help you gain muscle ? The short answer would be yes, but you must be wondering what it is and if it has any negative side effects.

Creatine Monohydrate

So Creatine is an amino acid – like substance that is stored in our muscles and nerve cells as Creatine phosphate. Creatine phosphate is there because it provides the muscles and nerves with energy. So supplementation with Creatine Monohydrate can increase Creatine storage in the muscles and nerves by up to 40%. Now if you combine this with proper weight training what you will see is that the person increases his strength much more rapidly and they get more power. So there will be more muscle and lean mass because you get more protein synthesis in the muscle. For athletes this will also increase there speed/endurance improving their performance and efficiency. This also allows athletes to train harder so they get faster results in all aspects of there training. Creatine also adds water to your muscles, which helps them recover quicker and allows you to workout longer.

Creatine is one of the most researched supplements in the industry, so if your on a tight budget and your looking to get supplements for bodybuilding Creatine should be on the top of your list because it’s been proven to be the most effective and cheapest supplement you can buy. It’s recommended that everyone should take 5 grams of Creatine Monohydrate with water at any time of the day everyday. Furthermore a loading phase (when you take a higher dose of Creatine for the first couple of days) is not necessary when taking Creatine. The only reason why this is out there in the first place is because supplement companies want to make more money since you will finish there product faster your then gonna have to go and buy another one. Lastly, Creatine does not need to be cycled you can take it everyday and it doesn’t have any bad side effects.

  3. Thanks for this Andrew, I used Creatine a while ago for weightlifting and I thought it proved beneficial in the short run, but not so much in the long run.

    Great site by the way

    1. Yeah I know what you mean it feels as it the effect of the creatine has worn off, but its still working and helping you make muscle gains. It’s just that your body has gotten use to it so you can’t feel the effects of it as much as the first couple times you used it.

  4. I was searching the internet for creatine for a research project. Although I have never taken the substance myself in the past, I do wonder if this is better as a supplement in addition to good diet and other supplementation, on top of muscle-building exercises?
